My Feedback- Thing 23

I feel great! I have just completed the 23Things Program. For me, it was a huge amount of things to learn- as you know I am known as "I am Petrified". But not today. Have learn't heaps and will enjoy using the new tools. Thanks to the 23Things Team for their assistance when I got stuck and very petrified. One must always face their fear- after all we can only grow from all this extra knowledge. Who knows, I may even keep blogging after this.

GOOGLE TALK

Google Talk is great- only one problem- I don't have the time to be on-line chatting- Have to go now.

PODCASTS - Thing 21

I have just been searching for some Podcasts. Found an interesting podcast on "Traveling to Italy" and listened to 2 of the audio recordings. Yes, that is my goal. I plan to travel to Italy in a few years time and take a well earned rest with my family. Thought I will share some images of Italy with you. Anyone else thinking of going to Italy? - it is such a beautiful country and there is so much to see.
P.S: I have subscribed to this podcast "Traveling in Italy" in my feed reader as I need to educate myself about the country.

My first YouTube experience- 20

Would you believe I have just had my first YouTube experience!
I have just seen a video clip called "Librarians at Work". What a laugh. It shows librarians having their annual christmas party where they are playing cool music and dancing on book trolleys - they are obviously having a great time.
Take a look at the following link and view this great video on YouTube

Life in the library can be FUN!

My Pet- Thing 19

Her name is Phoebe
I absolutely love my pet dog Phoebe. Every morning she cries when she knows I am up and have to go outside to say good morning to her. She is a miniture fox terrier and very very spoilt.

I loved looking at other people's pets on the VU Wiki- this is fun!

LIBRARY 2.0
After reading all the articles about Library 2.0, I think all these new concepts in library services is great. It also encourages feedback and participation- great for evaluating our library collection.
With Encore everything is easier to find and easy to use- how could I go wrong!

On another topic SPRING is almost here- we shall soon have warmer weather, and

CHRISTMAS is 3 months away - hope my finances will enable a cash filled christmas this year!

Sure is DELICIOUS - Great Thing 17

The weekend is almost here and so it's time to think of a recipe to cook for the family on Saturday- that's my favourite day of the week! It is when I can relax and enjoy cooking a low GI recipe.
I've just explored 'delicious' and found some great websites on low gi recipes. Take a look at the links below of 2 great web sites that have cooking recipes:

http://www.the-gi-diet.org/recipes/
http://www.geocities.com/topangasunrise/Recipes.html

Does anyone else enjoy cooking on the weekends?

Google Home Page- Thing 16

I have really enjoyed creating my igoogle home page- took me a while to find all the gadgets I wanted. Such as the weather- very important as the more rain we have the better. Great Jokes of the Day- keeps me smiling. News, sport, chinese proverb quotes, word of the day, quotes of the day, e-bay, google map search, google book search and of course facebook. Lots of fun- and all on the one page.
By the way, the quote of the day is:

They say that God is everywhere, and yet we always think of Him as somewhat of a recluse.
- Emily Dickinson
Thought I'd share with you all.

I love searching for more Cooking books

Hi everyone,
I have just been using Google Book Search and Google Scholar- found this great cooking book (A Beginner's guide)which we have in our catalogue. Even though I have been cooking for a very long time, it's always good to go back to the basics.
If I can't get hold of a copy I can then view at least some sections of it on-line- this is great!

Google Docs

I didn't know Google Docs existed until today. I have just created a document on Google Docs- an initation guest list for my daughter's 21st birthday party. This list will be great as I will be able to access it from my home computer and my daughter can access it as well. We can then jointly add or remove names as necessary. Sorry, can't share it with you all as your name may not be on the list ...

Google Maps- 13

I have used Google maps on many occassions. I like it a lot because you get directions which are easily set out from one destination to another. And what does everyone think about StreetView? I saw my house on StreetView and thought it looks great- I'm glad we weren't home on the day the picture was taken- there was not the usual 4 cars in the driveway- we must have all been at work.

MySpace and Facebook - Thing 12

I have just explored my way around MySpace and Facebook. I really like Facebook but let's be honest - who has the time for all this on-line social networking? Sounds great but maybe when I retire I will have more time. Now I know why my children spend so much time on Facebook and how drawn into it you can really get.
Hope our students aren't spending all their time in the library on Facebook- at least I can understand it more now.

Thing 11

Want an interesting blog to look at about libraries? Take a look at this one:

http://becomearobot.wordpress.com/2008/08/20/what-good-are-libraries/

I find this blog very interesting, only problem is - I don't have enough time to really sit and digest all the comments- perhaps when I am home on annual leave- Have to go now.

Thing 9, 10

Well I have just set up my feed reader and added World News. I am always interested in what is happening in the world- even though it can be quite depressing sometimes. Well at least we have the Olympics to focus on now. By the way when does the Olympics finish- when is the closing ceremony?

This is a good skill to have- we can at least assist our students with this- at least we will have some idea with what they are asking us.

Well my views on digg.com is that this is great. I wish I knew about this a long time ago.
Time to learn another skill- may take me a little while though but I will get there.

LowGi Diet

As I have a child who needs to be on a Low GI diet I am very interested in as many books I can find on low GI recipes and reading as much information I can get hold of on what foods fall in the low GI category and which foods to avoid. It also is a healthy way of dieting and is good for the whole family. I am so into healthy eating choices and would welcome more recipes and ideas from anyone interested in a low GI diet. Of course, working full time means that the recipes must be easy to prepare, exciting and definitely delicious.
Anyone interested, I have provided a link of some of my books I presently have in my personal collection:

I love the Beach

This is my favourite- I love the beach and because I am in such a good mood for a Monday I thought I would like to share this with you all out there who may be suffering from Mondayitis. Hang in there because today is almost over and in a few days time we can all have a great weekend again.

Flickr World map

The "Flickr World Map" application where you can see examples of people's maps with photos showing their travels is great to use and look at. I would love to travel around Europe and show off my travels by mapping it all out by sharing photos. Perhaps one day - when I win Tattslotto or retire gracefully. Sounds great and something to keep me motivated. Do other people wish to travel the world and map it all out with their photos too? It's great to look at other people's travels and sense of adventure.
I have provided you with the link to my favourite map showing Italy with some photos of it's architecture- Take a look and enjoy!

Flickr exercise

Well, I have just completed the Flickr exercise- hope all is ok.

Thought I'd add my favourite photo of one of my travels:

I find Bali a most beautiful country to visit- the scenery is just so peaceful and relaxing.

This is not so bad

Well, this is not so bad. I have just gone in to some other blogs and left some comments. It took me a while but I did it. It was good for my morale to see that I received a comment on my blog. I can actually sleep tonight!

I am Petrified

Yes, a lot of you may find this quite funny- I am actually petrified with all these new advances. I am just doing my first blog ever- yes there is hope for me after all. This will be an experience. Hope none of you find this as petrifying as me. But, I will be brave and keep going. Also read about the 23things and looked through the tasks we will be doing- what fun!
